BOISE, Idaho (AP) _ The Idaho Department of Environmental
Quality has a draft plan to clean up chemical contamination at a
former lumber facility in Sandpoint.

DEQ officials are taking public comment on the plan through
March 26.

The four-acre site was once the location of Alpine Lumber. It
was used as a pole treating facility from the early 1900s until the
mid-1950s. It's currently owned by Bitterroot Investments, which
operates a retail and wholesale building supply yard there.

Bitterroot Investments officials plan to clean up the property
by digging out the contaminated soil and disposing of it off-site.
