BOISE, Idaho (AP) _ French and Spanish citizens traveling in
Idaho have someone to call with ties to their homeland if they run
into problems.

Both France and Spain have honorary consulates in Idaho.

Gabrielle Applequist runs the honorary French consulate from her
dining room in Boise.

She says she helps with passports, legal troubles, and two years
ago traveled to Twin Falls to seal the casket of a French tourist
who died in Idaho.

Spain's honorary consulate is run by Adelia Simplot from her
office at J.R. Simplot Co. headquarters in Boise.

She says having an honorary consulate in Boise saves Spanish
travelers from having to go to the official regional consulate in
San Francisco if any problems arise.
