Ex-helper at high school gets 5 years for sex abuse
POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) _ A Fort Hall man who was a volunteer and
instructional assistant for the Highland High School band in
Pocatello has been sentenced to five years for lewd conduct with a
Thirty-one-year-old Michael Kee Dann was arrested in November,
accused of sexual contact with a 14-year-old student. He pleaded
guilty to the charge last month, admitting to two separate contacts
with the teen.
Sixth District Judge Peter McDermott handed down the five-year
sentence on Monday, saying the time would serve as both punishment
and deterrent. McDermott says parents need to feel reassured that
their children are safe in schools.
