Department store in E. Idaho mall vows to shut down
CHUBBUCK, Idaho (AP) _ A shopping mall in eastern Idaho is
losing another one of its anchor stores.
Officials say the Dillard's department store in the Pine Ridge
Mall in Chubbuck will shut its doors in late May.
Dillard's spokeswoman Julie Bull says poor performance at that
location is the reason for the closure. She says about 75 jobs will
be lost in the process, but adds that the retailer will try to
relocate any employees looking to move.
For the mall, it's the second anchor department store to leave
in the last two years. In 2006, Macy's called it quits.
The Dillard's departure leaves Sears, J.C. Penney and Shopko as
the mall's only large retailers.
The Arkansas-based retailer still operates about 330 stores in
