Mountain lion sightings on rise in E. Idaho city
POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) _ Idaho wildlife biologists say mountain
lions appear to be paying more visits in and around Pocatello.
But they also say it's unlikely many people will get to see the
secretive cats first hand.
Mark Gamblin, regional supervisor for the Idaho Department of
Fish and Game, says three young mountain lions were spotted at a
cemetery a week ago. Then two days later, he says a pair of lions
were reported at the Bannock County Fairgrounds.
And Idaho State Police report two young lions were recently
killed in separate traffic accidents along an in-town stretch of
Gamblin says the frequency may be tied to the migration of deer
to lower elevations in search of food.
