KUNA, Idaho (AP) _ More than 600 tons of hay burned at a Kuna
farm yesterday after the wind blew embers from a fire pit roughly
75 yards only a stack of bales.

Kuna Fire Department Capt. Doug Newcomb says the wind
intensified the flames and there was no way for firefighters to get
enough water on the hay to extinguish the fire. Officials feared
the breaking apart the pile would cause more embers to be caught in
the wind, endangering other homes and hay bales nearby.

Newcomb says it could take a week or more for the hay fire to
burn out. He says fire crews will remain on scene until the blaze
is out.
