BOISE, Idaho (AP) _ Boise National Forest officials plan to
start a prescribed burn today on about 300 acres roughly 14 miles
northeast of Boise.

They hope the burn will help protect against out-of-control
wildfires by reducing the fuels left from the Mack Pine Timber
sale.

Travelers on Highway 21 near Grimes Creek or Highway 55 near
Horseshoe Bend may see a plume of smoke from the burn. Officials
say the smoke is expected to drift away from populated areas.
