NAMPA, Idaho (AP) _ State Alcohol Beverage Control officials say
the agency issued six citations to adults buying alcohol for minors
in Nampa last week.

The Nampa operation is one of several the agency will carry out
before the summer.

Officials say they hope to curb the amount of alcohol available
to minors.

Adults who buy alcohol for minors can be charged with a $1,000
misdemeanor fine. Adults charged a second time are charged with a
$2,000 fine and up to 30 days in jail.

The agency issued nine citations in Boise in April for selling
alcohol to minors. Restaurants, bars, liquor stores and gas
stations were among businesses cited.

Local authorities assisted the state agency during both
operations.
