Students Tested After Tuberculosis Scare

By Faye Hoffman

1500 students and 100 staff members are being tested at Coeur d' Alene High School after a tuberculosis scare. The test came Monday after an unidentified student was diagnosed with the disease late last week.

Officials with the Panhandle Health District say they believe the student contracted the disease outside the United States.

Active TB is caused by bacteria that attack the lungs. It is infectious and can be spread through the air.

Officials say results of the tests won’t be released.
