Lobbying Group Says Idaho Schools Should Be Run Like Businesses

By Kim Bartlett

A state lobbying group says Idaho's schools should be run more like businesses.

The Idaho Association of Commerce and Industry says it wants school principals to act more like managers and less like teachers.

The group says it should be easier to fire employees who aren't doing a good job, and that the state shouldn't link teachers' salaries to their seniority and levels of education.

A spokeswoman says all of the changes are meant to produce a better educated workforce.
