Congressman Butch Otter Recants on Support for Land Sale
Congressman Butch Otter is withdrawing his support to sell millions of acres of federal land in the west to raise money for Hurricane Katrina relief.
In a statement distributed to media outlets Otter wrote, “I was wrong. It wasn't the first time, and it won't be the last.”
Otter was criticized by political opponents over his co–sponsorship of the bill.
He says that in this case his critics were correct when they said the bill wasn't the right approach.
Otter is running for governor this year.
