BOISE, Idaho (AP) _ An Episcopal priest who has preached in Twin
Falls the last 17 years has been named bishop for the Episcopal
Diocese in Idaho.

Brian Thom, a priest at Church of the Ascension in Twin Falls,
was selected Saturday among four vying for the position.

Thom, 52, is scheduled to be consecrated in October in a
ceremony attended by Katharine Jefferts Schori, the U.S. presiding
bishop.

The Idaho diocese stretches from McCall and Salmon south to the
Idaho border and has about 7,000 members.

Thom says one of his top priorities is to find ways to bring all
29 scattered congregations a little closer together.
