Power Rates Could Be on the Rise Again

By Kim Bartlett

Power rates for many Idaho residents would rise by an average of $2.30 a month this summer, under an agreement between the Idaho Power Company and the state’s Public Utility Commission.

Idaho Power had originally requested an increase that would have averaged about $5 per month, but settled for the lower rate after complaints from consumer groups.

If approved by the PUC, the increase would likely take effect June 1.

The increase would push the average monthly bill for customers over $82 in the summer and $76 in winter.
