COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) _ Coeur d'Alene Tribal Police have
asked federal authorities to charge the wife of a northern Idaho
county commissioner with felony assault on a police officer.

Tribal police say Eleanor Buell struck a tribal marine officer
who was patrolling the southern end of Lake Coeur d'Alene at the
mouth of the St. Joe River.

Tribal police stopped Buell and her husband, Benewah County
Commissioner Jack Buell, on Sunday after reporting that the Buells'
boat was leaving a wake in a no-wake zone.

Tribal officer John Dressler says he put his hand on the Buells'
boat to keep the two boats from banging together.

He says that he felt a strike on his left hand, and looking up
saw Eleanor Buell poised to strike again.

Jack Buell did not return a phone call from The Associated Press
on Thursday.
