RIGBY, Idaho (AP) _ A judge has postponed the sentencing for a
former Jefferson County day care provider convicted in the death of
an 18-month-old girl.
Forty-year-old Patricia Ann Widerburg entered a modified guilty
plea to felony injury to a child in December, declining to admit
guilt but acknowledging there was enough evidence to convict her.
Widerburg was charged in April after a five-month investigation
into the November 2008 death of young Hannah Covington at the Learn
and Grow Daycare. An autopsy indicated Hannah died of a subdural
hematoma, which the sheriff's office said was consistent with
shaken-baby syndrome.
The Post Register reports Widerburg was scheduled to be
sentenced Monday but the sentencing has been rescheduled for March
15.
