CRAIGMONT, Idaho (AP) _ A judge has ruled the owner of a pit
bull sentenced to die last year after charging a small child will
get another chance to plead Butch's case.

The Craigmont City Council decided in September that Pamela
Thompson's dog, an American Staffordshire terrier, was dangerous
and should be put down.

Authorities say Butch went too far when he charged the
3-year-old son of the city's dog catcher, Jeremia Wynott, on Aug.
16. Witnesses also testified to the dog's troublesome past, saying
he chased pedestrians.

Second District Judge John H. Bradbury said earlier this week he
didn't have enough information to decide whether Butch was in fact,
dangerous, and sent the case back to the city council.

Attorney Linda Pall is representing the dog's owner, Pamela
Thompson, and says Butch does not deserve to be on ``doggie death
row.''
