BOISE, Idaho (AP) _ Officials say the Mexican consulate in Boise
has served about 15,000 people during its first year of operation.

Mexican Consul Ricardo Pineda says he expected to help that many
people in the first year.

The consulate helps Mexicans obtain passports and other
documents from Mexico. It also promotes cultural and business
relationships between the United States and Mexico.

The consulate in Boise opened last April but had been providing
services in a temporary office before that.

Before opening in Boise, people needing the Mexican consulate's
help had to travel to Salt Lake City.
