Embezzler sentenced to probation

POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) _ A former Bannock County clerk's office
employee has been sentenced to 10 years of probation for embezzling
about $22,000 from the county and an employees association.

Sixth District Judge Stephen S. Dunn also ordered Brandy
Michelle Perkins to spend 10 days in the county jail over the next
five weekends and to perform 100 hours of community service each
year of her 10 years of probation. If Perkins successfully
completes her probation, she will be eligible to have the felonies
removed from her record.

The 37-year-old Perkins pleaded guilty to two counts of
embezzlement in February.

A presentence report indicated Perkins took the money, in part,
to go shopping to combat depression over her failing marriage.

Dunn ordered both sides to meet within 30 days to determine a
restitution amount.
