FORT HALL, Idaho (AP) _ Six inmates who escaped from the Fort
Hall Jail by crawling through a ceiling vent have been apprehended.
38-year-old Sonny E. Ballard of Fort Hall was the last to be
captured by Pocatello Police around 6 p.m. Sunday evening. The five
others were caught in the morning.
Corrections spokesman Greg Sage says the escape occurred around
10 p.m. Saturday when the inmates apparently used a nail clipper to
remove a ceiling vent grate in their jail cell, crawled into an
adjoining court room and escaped.
The escape occurred just five days before inmates were to be
moved to the new Shoshone-Bannock Justice Center Corrections
Police from Fort Hall, Chubbuck, Pocatello, Bannock County and
Idaho State police departments responded to the escape call.
