Ririe board votes to close elementary school

RIRIE, Idaho (AP) _ The Ririe School Board, facing a $400,000
budget shortfall, has voted to close the town's elementary school.

The board voted 4-1 Wednesday night to close the school.

Ririe Superintendent Ron Perrenoud began the meeting by going
over the numbers and ideas they've discussed before on where to
make cuts, including supplies, switching to a four-day school week
and closing the elementary school.

The board has not decided if the estimated 240 elementary
students in the district will attend classes at the middle school
or the high school next year.
