Man sentenced for failed bank robbery

POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) _ An Oklahoma man who attempted to rob a
credit union in Chubbuck in January has been sentenced to a 180-day
boot camp program for felony burglary and being a felon in
possession of a firearm.

Sixth District Judge Robert Naftz sentenced 27-year-old Lawrence
Jackson on Monday, characterizing his aborted attempt to rob the
Pocatello Railroad Federal Credit Union as ``stupidity.''

Jackson is on federal probation in Oklahoma for a 2005 stabbing
on the Fort Hall Reservation. He faces the possibility of being
returned to federal prison for violating his probation, the Idaho
State Journal reported.

Public defender Randy Schulthies said Jackson had been doing
well on probation, but ``fell in with some old associates'' when he
returned to Idaho for his grandmother's funeral.
