Bingham County has new drug testing lab
BLACKFOOT, Idaho (AP) _ Bingham County has a new lab that allows
them to run drug tests for courts more quickly and accurately and
at a lower cost for people being monitored as part of their
County probation director Claudon Lilya tells the Idaho State
Journal that the new equipment makes results available as soon as
the same day, rather than waiting for up to two weeks for an
outside lab to run the tests.
Lilya says immediacy is important when it comes to helping those
who struggle with drug use.
Lilya says Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics donated the lab
equipment as long as the county purchases drug testing supplies
from the company. Those undergoing drug testing pay a $15 fee per
test, down from $25 for tests sent to outside labs.
The lab has processed 3,114 tests since it began operating in
