POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) _ An eastern Idaho man suspected in a
shooting at a Pocatello coffee shop remains unfit to face felony
charges in the case.
Gerald Durk Simpson, 54, was transported to a mental health
facility in September after authorities say he shot and severely
wounded a 25-year-old man who was leaving a coffee shop located
near Simpson's home.
The victim, Ryan Mitchell, survived.
Simpson was charged with felony aggravated battery and use of a
deadly weapon in the commission of a felony.
Bannock County chief deputy prosecutor Vic Pearson says Simpson
is still receiving treatment at a mental health facility and the
case will move forward when he is deemed fit to participate in his
defense.
Police say Simpson did the shooting soon after being removed
from a state mental health program.
