High-speed police chase in Nampa ends with crash

NAMPA, Idaho (AP) _ Authorities say a driver led Nampa police on
an Interstate 84 chase that reached speeds up to 110 mph before it
ended with the suspect's vehicle crashing. Nampa police officers had stopped a driver in a 2008 Nissan pickup truck for suspected DUI about 4 a.m. Monday at I-84 and the Garrity Boulevard Interchange.
The Nampa police report says the driver then fled eastbound on
the interstate, leading the officers on a high-speed chase until
the pickup crashed at the Ten Mile interchange in Meridian.
Police identified the driver as 35-year-old Toby Vernor of
Boise. Police say Vernor was wearing a seat belt and was taken to a
Boise hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Charges are pending and police are continuing to investigate.
