HELENA, Mont. (AP) _ The Montana Highway Patrol says a
16-year-old girl from Salmon, Idaho was killed in a single-vehicle
crash in southwestern Montana.
Beaverhead County Sheriff Jay Hansen says Merisa Beebe was
southbound on Highway 43 near Wisdom at 7:55 p.m. Tuesday when the car drifted off the right side of the road. The driver
overcorrected, the car yawed sharply to the left and went off the
road sideways. The tires on the right side of the car dug into the
dirt and the car rolled twice, landing on its wheels.
Beebe died at the scene. Her passenger, an 8-year-old boy from
Gillette, Wyo., was taken to a Butte hospital for treatment of
Troopers say neither was wearing their seat belts properly.
