Judge appoints twice-convicted man new attorney

LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) _ A judge has appointed a new attorney to a
man convicted of a double murder in Idaho.
Mark Lankford was convicted in 1984 of the beating deaths of
U.S. Marine Capt. Robert Bravence and his wife, Cheryl Bravence,
but a federal appeals court overturned the conviction in 2007. He
was convicted again in a retrial in 2008 and sentenced to life in
prison.
Lankford now wants a third trial, and he said he had a conflict
with his current attorney over defense strategies. On Tuesday, 2nd
District Judge John Stegner agreed to appoint a new attorney to
represent Lankford.
