LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) _ A 28-year-old Lapwai man has surrendered
to authorities after being accused of throwing acid into the face
of an acquaintance last month.
Brandon T. Eddins is scheduled to appear in court next month on
a charge of felony aggravated battery. He is jailed on $25,000
bail.
Prosecutors say Eddins threw a white plastic jug containing a
corrosive acid or caustic chemical at 29-year-old Daniel L. Hight
during a verbal altercation in North Lewiston on July 11.
Hight told Lewiston police he was unable to breathe after the
substance was thrown into his face. The acid caused severe damage
to his left eye. Officials have not yet identified the substance.
The Lewiston Tribune reports that Eddins faces a preliminary
hearing on Aug. 4.
