Northern Idaho 16-year-old pleads not guilty to rape
WALLACE, Idaho (AP) _ A 16-year-old boy in northern Idaho who
police say sexually assaulted another juvenile in a high school and
who is charged as an adult with rape has pleaded not guilty.
John Milo Whisman of Kellogg made the plea Monday in 1st District Court.
The Shoshone News Press reports that Whisman was charged Jan. 12 and since then has been held in the Shoshone County jail on $100,000 bond.
But Shoshone County Judge Fred Gibler on Monday granted the defense's motion to release Whisman on his own recognizance as long as a home monitoring device is used so authorities know his
Shoshone County Sheriff's Office Detective Jeanette Woodard-Ochoa in court testified that Whisman's mother contacted the mother of a victim in a move Woodard-Ochoa characterized as witness intimidation.
