One Woman Dead, Another Woman Charged With 1st Degree Murder

Nampa, Idaho (KMVT-TV) One woman is dead and another has been charged with 1st degree murder in Nampa today. Police say that on February 28 at around 11:00 pm, they responded to a possible disturbance call in the 4400 block of Lon Valley Place. When officers arrived they say they were met at the door by an uncooperative female who had blood on her clothing. Officers entered the home and found a female in a bedroom suffering from head trauma. Later, authorities identified the woman who was killed as Ruth Collins, 69 of Nampa. At a press conference this morning, authorities identified Collins as the mother of the person accused of 1st degree murder. Collins was taken to Saint Alphonsus hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later. Nampa police say they arrested Kelly A. Singh, 40 at the scene. Ada County Coroner Erwin Sonnenberg conducted an autopsy on Collins' body this morning. He said the cause of death as Blunt Force Trauma to the head. Canyon County Prosecutor Bryan Taylor said that Singh will be arraigned on the murder charge. She has been charged with 1st degree murder and is being held in the Canyon County Jail. Singh faces up to life in prison or possibly the death sentence if found guilty.
