Police: Burglars pretended to be looking for dog

MERIDIAN, Idaho (AP) _ Police in Meridian say they've arrested four people suspected pretending to search for a lost dog while actually trying to find houses they could burglarize.
Officers say 18-year-old Venyamin ``Ben'' Elikh and three younger teens are the burglars they've been trying to track down since early March. They were arrested Thursday on suspicion of at least seven break-ins. Elikh faces charges of burglary, grand theft and a probation violation.
Three other boys, age 16 and 17, are charged with burglary.
Deputy Chief Tracy Basterrechea says the group went door-to-door with flyers pretending to be looking for a lost dog. But
investigators say they just wanted to avoid looking suspicious as they checked to see if anyone was home.
Officers say the stolen items, mostly electronics, were sold or traded on Craiglist.
