BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Republican U.S. Rep. Raul Labrador plans to announce his bid for re-election next week in Boise.

Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter is among state officials expected to join the first-term congressman Monday at the Idaho Capitol when he makes his announcement. Labrador, a tea party favorite, was elected to Congress in 2010.

He reclaimed Idaho's 1st Congressional District seat for Republicans that year when he ousted Democrat Walt Minnick.

Former NFL player Jimmy Farris plans to run in the 2012 Democratic primary race for the 1st District, which includes western and northern Idaho.
