COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) _ Authorities in northern Idaho have
recovered items stolen during a rash of home burglaries earlier
this year.
The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office says jewelry taken during the break-ins has turned up at pawn shops and in the homes of people who are suspects in the burglaries. The agency is in the
process of having victims identify their stolen property.
The sheriff's office said in October there had been more than 90
reports of home burglaries during the previous two months. That's
more than four times the 21 burglaries reported during the same
period last year.
Authorities have said they suspect lagging unemployment in the
region could be one of the reasons behind the dramatic increase in
home burglaries, which included break-ins that were reported as
happening in broad daylight.
