Rupert, Idaho - Ronald Oris Gibson, 65, of Rupert, passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at his home.
Ron was born May 26, 1947, in Rupert, Idaho, to Oris and Jean Gibson. He married Debbie in 1972. They raised two sons on their family farm in Rupert.
Ron graduated from Minico High School in 1965. After high school, Ron attended the University of Idaho and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1969. Ron’s passion in life was family, friends and farming. His huge garden was a testament to his talent in raising crops. He loved fishing, hunting, shooting and reloading and was a very good marksman. Ron was a family man. He loved his wife of 40 years. He was a good husband and an exceptional father. His two boys were the pride of his life, and he loved them very much. Ron loved spending time with his grandchildren, and he had so much fun reading stories to them and making the story so animated. He was a man of integrity and anyone that knew Ron and had dealings with Ron knew he was honest and a man of his word. He will be lovingly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, brother and sisters, friends, nieces and nephews, and all who loved his good sense of humor and personality.
Ron is survived by his wife, Debbie Gibson; two sons, Colin (Carol) Gibson and Lance (Amy Stranger) Gibson; one brother, Gary (Shirley Freiburger) Gibson; three sisters, Donna (Scott) Fitch, Carol (Roger) Westendorf and Janis (Joe) Gardner; and three grandchildren. Ron was preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Rupert Cemetery under the direction of the Hansen Mortuary in Rupert. In lieu of flowers, donations may be to the Elks Rehabilitation Hospital, Attention Grant Jones, 600 N. Robbins Road, Boise, ID, 83702.
