Filer, Idaho - Carl William “Bill” Blass Sr., 82, of Filer, passed away at his home Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012.
He was born May 10, 1930, in Filer, Idaho, to Ruth and Carl Blass. Always excelling in sports, he graduated from Filer High School in 1949. He attended SICE on a football scholarship. Bill married Glenna Hostetler in 1949. His passion was the love of the land. He farmed in Filer and was one of the original entry-man on Bell Rapids. After retiring, he spent his winters in Arizona. When in Filer, he started each morning with the “coffee group.”
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Glenna Blass; his children, Arlene (Mark) Hurlburt of Pocatello, Idaho, Connie (Jerry) Miller of Nampa, Idaho, Bill Jr. (Lauren) Blass of Filer, Idaho, and Kimberly (Nick) Griffin of Sarasota, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bob (Norma) Blass. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ruth Blass.
An open house will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at the family home.
