Twin Falls, Idaho - Roy passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls.
He was born July 7, 1930, in Buhl, Idaho, to Charles Jackson Brandon and Helen Verena Cobb Brandon. Roy attended Willowdale and Buhl schools. He spent his teen years herding sheep for Jack Campbell. Roy joined the U.S. Navy in March 1948 and served for four years. He arrived home on March 1, 1952, and spent the next 44 years employed by Utah Wholesale Grocery (later Fleming Foods). During this time, he was transferred to Pocatello and Salt Lake City, returning home to Twin Falls for the last 15 years of his career. Roy met Leona Simpson in 1947 at Castleford. They married on his birthday and celebrated 61 years of marriage on July 7, 2012.
Survivors include his wife, Leona of Twin Falls; daughter, Laura Dille of Pocatello; and son, Lynn (Nan) Brandon of Las Vegas, Nev. Roy also leaves his brother, Keith (Betty) of Spokane, Wash.; granddaughter, Verena (Skylar) Simmons of Pocatello; step-granddaughters, Stacy of Las Vegas, Nev., and Christine of Stites, Idaho; step-grandsons, Kevin (Sarah) of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Karl of Clarkston, Wash. Roy also had two great-grandsons and three step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two beloved nieces and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Charleen (Dale) Peterson; and nephew, Roy Peterson.
Joining Leona in celebrating Roy’s life are their closest lifelong friends, Barbara (Bob) Holloway and their extensive and loving family.
Visitation for Roy will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at the Parke’s Magic Valley Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Road in Twin Falls. The funeral for Roy will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at Parke’s Magic Valley Funeral Home, with Pastor Jeff Cooper officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Twin Falls.
