Dietrich, Idaho - Eugene “Gene” Jennings, 72, a resident of Dietrich, beloved husband, father and grandfather left us to be with his Lord and Savior on November 3, 2012.
Dad was born December 6, 1939 in Jerome, Idaho to Cleo and Ola Sarah Jane (Tipton). As a baby his family moved back to Green Forest, Arkansas, before returning to Jerome when Dad was in the 2nd grade. He lived in Jerome until he joined the US Army in 1956. Dad served just shy of four years as an MP, including a tour in the Korean War. Dad was very proud of his military service and would tear up when talking about his buddies he lost in the war.
In 1962 Dad married the love of his life and together they raised three kids in various places in Idaho. In 1982 they settled in Dietrich where Dad was living at the time of his death.
Dad worked several different jobs throughout his life; cowboying, packing for the Forest Service, and the Big Wood Canal Co. where he retired from in 2006.
In his retirement Dad enjoyed fishing, day trips driving in the mountains and desert, and spending time with his family. Dad loved to sit and tell stories of his youth, mishaps with his horses and mules, antics with his hunting and fishing buddies, and nearly 50 years worth of life with Mom.
Dad was preceded in death by both of his parents and his older brother, Willard.
He is survived by his best friend, Dee (Dorchak), his son Kevin, his daughter Karen, his youngest son Kelly (Karen), and his grandsons Ruger and Shane. Grandpa, you will be terribly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Shoshone, with Pastor Roger Johnson officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Demaray Funeral Service – Shoshone Chapel.
