Paul, Idaho - Billy Joe Matheson Fairchild, youngest of four children born to Riley Merle and Sarah Muriel Martin Matheson, passed away Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at the Cassia Regional Medical Center in Burley.
Her father, Riley, passed away in Paraguay; her mother, Sarah, passed away in Redding, Calif., and her sister, Jenny Gay Fearn Burkett, passed away in Billings, Mont. Her oldest sister, Maudie Lou Gregory, resides in Redding, Calif., and her brother, Ronald Dean Matheson, resides in Sun City, Calif. Billy Joe Matheson Fairchild was married to Allen Gene Fairchild for 35 years. He preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 2010. There were no children born of this union.
Billy Joe was born in Las Cruces, N.M. During her lifetime she resided in New Mexico, California, Oregon and Idaho. She was an avid fan of the National Football League and particularly the Dallas Cowboys, and stock car racing from beginners to the pros, being a Earnhardt (senior and junior) and Chevy die-hard fan. She was passionate about the preservation of wildlife and the environment and held a soft heart for all “homeless” four-legged creatures.
It was Billy Joe’s decision to be cremated and her remains placed next to her sister, Jenny Gay, and the rest of the Matheson clan who have preceded her in death at the LawnCrest Cemetery in Redding, Calif.
At Billy Joe’s request, there are to be no services or memorials.
Memorial donations may be sent to any local animal shelter or pet rescue organization.
Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home and Crematory in Rupert.
