Age: 83 years old
Filer, Idaho - Larene Helen Slatter, age 83, passed away Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at home after a stroke.
She was born Nov. 27, 1928, to Martha (Lohr) and Joda “Joe” Taylor. She married the love of her life, Leslie “John” Slatter on Sept. 30, 1945, in Filer, Idaho. Mom loved the Lord Jesus because Jesus made it possible for her to go to heaven where she will see her Savior and her loved ones. To see Jesus in Heaven was her greatest joy. She was also excited to see our dad again. Mom loved being a stay-at-home mom. She always had after-school snacks for us and enjoyed fixing our favorite chicken and noodles. Her favorite thing to do was going to yard sales. She always felt guilty if she didn’t buy something. When dad was alive, they spent many wonderful camping trips with all the family whom she loved very much.
Larene is survived by her children, Christine (Jim) Curry of Shoshone, Galen Slatter of Twin Falls and Steven Slatter of Filer; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Verlon (Boyd) Taylor of Filer; and one sister, Juanita Cox of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers, Carroll, Keith and Paul Taylor; and two sisters, Jeanne Troxell and Elsie Ruiz.
Her family is deeply grateful for the wonderful, loving care from the staff of River Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center and, most recently, from Hospice Visions.
A celebration of Larene’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Reynolds Funeral Chapel, 2466 Addison Ave. E. in Twin Falls, with Pastor Bruce Carlson officiating. Burial will follow at the Filer Cemetery. A viewing for family and friends will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Reynolds Funeral Chapel.
Services are under the direction of Trent Stimpson and staff at Reynolds Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be left for the family by visiting www.reynoldschapel.com.
