Jerome, Idaho - Robert Amoureux, 82, of Jerome passed away Sunday November 11, 2012 in Jerome. He lived a full and exciting life with a loving family.
Robert was born June 29, 1930 in Boise, Idaho to Margaret Francis Armitage Amoureux and Amos LaRoche. He was later joined by a younger brother and sister. He graduated from Ontario, OR High School in 1949. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War. After he returned home he married Jane Borup in the Salt Lake Temple for all of eternity. He attended Boise Jr. College, Utah State, and then BYU where he received his Masters degree in Medical Entomology. After living in Pakistan and many other locations he moved his family to Jerome in 1970 and worked as the County Health Inspector for several years until he retired due to ill health. In 1998 he became the Kiwanis Governor of the Utah/Idaho District.
Robert and Jane were the parents of seven children: Robert Amoureux (Sandra) of Boise, Ramon Amoureux (Tecia) of Meridian, William Amoureux (Katie) of Tucson, AZ, Patricia French (Ray) of Idaho Falls, Marie Govan (Herman) of Chubbuck, Sharon Amoureux of Gooding, and John Amoureux (Kris) of Jerome.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson Robby Amoureux.
A visitation will be held Thursday evening, November 15, 2012, at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 South Lincoln, Jerome, where family and friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Friday November 16, 2012, in the Jerome LDS 10th Ward Chapel, 825 East Avenue B, Jerome, with a visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow in the Jerome Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Kiwanis’s Eliminate Tetanus Project at or at the funeral in Honor of Robert Amoureux.
