Shoshone, Idaho - Dorothy Louise Hall, 85, a resident of Shoshone, Idaho, died November 12, 2012, at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Dorothy was born on January 8, 1927, in Lincoln, Nebraska, the daughter of Daniel and Helen Langdon. She was a proud Irish woman. She was raised and educated in Lincoln, Nebraska.
She married Gordon Hall on June 29, 1946, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Dorothy always felt that she earned an honorary degree while Gordon was attending Idaho State University. She called it the PHT--Pushed Husband Through.
Dorothy had an excellent work ethic and had several jobs throughout her lifetime, such as a clerk at Shoshone City Hall, Idaho Grange Coop, and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. The job she was most proud of was executive secretary to the vice president at Aerojet in California.
First and foremost, Dorothy was an excellent mother and wife. She excelled in cooking, sewing, art and needlepoint. Mom also believed that she was a fabulous golfer and fisherman; no one had the heart to tell her otherwise.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda McCown (Lee); son, Rick Hall (Lucy); son, Randy Hall; brother, Richard Langdon; sister, Patricia Langdon, grandchildren Erin, Jenny, Eric; and four great grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one grandson and one granddaughter.
She was a devout member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Shoshone.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Shoshone.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her neighbors; Brenda and Kaylin; and to Dr. Davis, Janet Sandy, and the staff at Shoshone Family Medical Center.
No public services are planned.
A private family memorial service with inurnment at the Shoshone Cemetery will take place.
