Rupert, Idaho - Raymond George Kowitz, 76-year-old longtime Rupert resident, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loved ones Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012.
Ray was born in Rupert, Idaho, on Jan. 11, 1936. He was the son of Martha and George Kowitz. Ray served in the Army from 1953 to 1961. Upon returning, he worked at a local electrical company until he and a partner started their own company, H&K Electric. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, whitewater rafting, gardening, geocaching and creatively cooking for his family and friends.
He is survived by his beautiful wife, Alice; his six children, Janet, Brenda, Jeff, Carla, Doug and Dan; and his five grandchildren.
Ray was loved by all who knew him and he will endure in their hearts and memories. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at the Morrison Funeral Home, 188 S. Highway 24 in Rupert, with Pastor Travis Turner officiating and military rites provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans Organization.
Cremation and memorial services are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home and Crematory in Rupert, Mini-Cassia’s only onsite crematory.
