Burley, Idaho – Linda Jean Fischer Farran, age 64, of Burley, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at Parke View Rehabilitation and Care Center in Burley, after a long and courageous battle with multiple sclerosis. Her family was lovingly by her side.
She was born on Jan. 7, 1948, in Linton, North Dakota, the daughter of Fred and Emma Berreth Fischer. When Linda was ten-years-old, her family moved to Rupert. She attended Rupert area schools and graduated from Minico High School in 1967. She married Ronald LeRoy Farran on June 30, 1967, and they settled in the Rupert area. Together, they had two sons, Jeff and David.
While raising her two boys, Linda worked at various jobs including that of a waitress, cook and cashier, and completed her working career as a certified nurses assistant. Her main purpose in life was raising her two boys. Linda loved spending time with her family and simply adored her grandchildren. In 1994, Linda and Ron moved to the Springdale area east of Burley where Linda resided until she entered Parke View Rehabilitation and Care Center due to multiple sclerosis. Linda and Ron celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on June 30, 2007, and Ron passed away shortly thereafter on July 27.
Linda is survived by her two sons, Jeff (Angela) Farran, and David (Melissa) Farran all of Burley; her five grandchildren, Dylan, Aubrey, Keegan, Landon and Ashton; her siblings, Reinie (Judi) Fischer of Hermiston, Oregon, Irene (Manuel) Santos of Heyburn, and Harold Fischer of Pinehurst, Idaho; three nephews, Neal, Lyle and Jim; and five nieces, Janice, Teri, Maria, Sherry, and Tina.
In addition to her husband, Ron, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Samuel Fischer; a sister and brother-in-law, Violet and Joe Houn; a nephew, Dale Houn; and her in-laws, LeRoy and Hulda Farran.
The family expresses their sincere appreciation to the staff at Parke View Rehabilitation and Care Center for the love and care they gave to Linda over the years.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, where friends and family may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 until 9:45 a.m. Saturday. Officiating will be the Rev. John Ziulkowski. Burial will be in the Paul Cemetery.
