Gooding, Idaho - Howard B. “Hap” Nelson, 93, a resident of Gooding, died, Monday, December 17, 2012 at the Bennett Hills Care Center in Gooding.
Howard was born on August 3, 1919 in Modesto, California, the son of George and Ina Nelson. He was raised and educated in Modesto where he later worked as a bee keeper and farmer. In 1971 Howard and his brother, Clyde and their mother, Ina moved north of Gooding to farm and operate a Jersey dairy. Hap and Clyde retired and moved to Buhl in 1999 and then moved back to Gooding in 2006.
Howard enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping and maintaining a few hives of bees. He liked to share the honey with friends and lend a hand to other people and spinning yarns.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Turlock, California.
His family thanks Hap’s new friends at Bennett Hills for the care they gave him.
He is survived by: four brothers, Clyde of Gooding, Harvey and Norman of California and Morris of Virginia; and a sister, Dorothy of California. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel with Rev. Andy Morris officiating. Services will conclude at the chapel. A private interment will take place at the Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding.
