Heyburn, Idaho – Our beautiful mother, Linda Burch Poulton, 71, passed away at home in Logan, Utah, on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer.
Mom was the youngest child of Golden Russell Burch and Alta Martin Burch born Aug. 26, 1941, in Oakley, Idaho. Our mother met our father, Roger Poulton, on New Year’s Eve, 1960 and they married on Aug. 18, 1961. After living briefly in Provo, Utah, Oakley and Rupert, Idaho, they made their home in Heyburn where they lived while raising their three children, Amy, Tammy, and Dan. Our mother devoted her life to taking care of her family and enjoying her grandchildren: Garrett Hansen; Brady, Taylor, and Paige Martin; and Aubry, Kennedy, Hayden, Avery and Davis Poulton.
Mom was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she treasured her time in her Heyburn Ward. She loved her Heavenly Father and lived her life as an example of unconditional love for everyone she met. Her heart was always open and accepting of everyone around her – she was a beautiful person inside and out.
Mom worked for the State of Idaho Inspection for 30 years, retiring in 2006 to devote her time to her love of growing, buying, and planting flowers and spending time with her wonderful friends. She loved reading, stitching, shopping, and laughing with her friends and family. She always kept her sense of humor regardless of the struggle she was facing.
Mom is survived by her children, Amy Hansen of Logan, Utah, Tamara (Dewayne) Martin of Logan, Utah, and Dan (Annette) Poulton of Bountiful, Utah. Mom has three brothers, Richard Burch, Alan (Janet) Burch, and Robert (Bonnie) Burch. Mom was preceded in death by our father, William Roger Poulton, and her loving parents.
Our mom’s funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Heyburn Ward LDS Church, 300 S. 500 W., of Heyburn, with Bishop Brett Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Basin Cemetery in Oakley, Idaho.
Friends and family may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Our family would like to thank Dr. Ali Ben-Jacob for his care of our mother, the wonderful staff at Sunshine Terrace (she loved you guys), and the many friends, neighbors, and family members that were there to help Mom at a minute’s notice.
Mom, we love you and will miss you dearly.
