BURLEY – Ralph LeRoy Young, age 84, of Burley, died Tuesday evening, Jan. 29, 2013, at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.
Ralph was born on Aug. 15, 1928, in Lakin, Kansas, the son of Earl Anderson and Emalena Agusta (Hoss) Young. He received his education in Lakin and graduated from Lakin High School. He married Gaye Rose of Murtaugh on May 27, 1949. Together, they resided in Murtaugh until 1963 when the moved to Burley and where they have since resided.
While living in Murtaugh, Ralph worked for Thorne’s Grocery Store. After relocating to Burley, he worked for two years at Jay’s Fine Foods and then was employed at McCaslin Lumber Company for more than 25 years. Ralph thoroughly enjoyed his association with the McCaslin family and especially treasured the lifelong friendships made with the devoted customers he had the privilege of serving.
No matter where Ralph lived, he was actively involved in the community. He was a former member of the Murtaugh Grange, the Elks Lodge, and was an active member of the Burley United Methodist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors and enjoyed fishing. Additionally, he was an avid bowler, an expert in wood working, and was known for his handyman’s skills. However, most important to Ralph was his family. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
Ralph is survived by his wife of nearly 64 years, Gaye Young of Burley; his son and his wife, Richard (Kim Errecart) Young of Burley; two grandchildren, Robert “Txotx” Young and Brooke Beach; three great-grandchildren, Tristen, Jamie and Heather; two great-great-grandsons, Joshua and Alex Nuova; and his siblings, Joseph (Freida) Young of Twin Falls, Laura Anderson (Gary Bowles) of Richland, Wash., and Donald Young, and Betty (Richard) Carrier all of Twin Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, David Allen Young.
Ralph’s life will be celebrated at a memorial service to be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the United Methodist Church, 450 E. 27th St., in Burley, with the Rev. Kathy Abend officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Rasmussen Funeral Home of Burley.

Ralph was one of the "good Guys' in this world. What we all could learn from Ralph would take years to talk about. A man of integrity and honesty. We will miss him. My deepest sympathy to Gay and the family. May God take care him very carefully

Gaye: You have been of friend of mine for many years. Ralph made me the most beautiful Bird house that is in my Pine Tree. I have had and treasured that so much I will miss seeing both of you on your walks. With all my Love
