Gooding, Idaho - LeeRoy Parker, 87, a resident of Gooding, formerly of Richfield, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013 at his home in Gooding.
LeeRoy was born on June 30, 1925, in Kiowa, Oklahoma, to Neil and Rosa Vaughen Parker. He was raised and educated in Oklahoma. LeeRoy married Lera Pauline Blair on September 6, 1945 in Pratt, Kansas.
They moved to California for 1 year, and then back to Oklahoma and farmed for 4 years, then back to Tranquility, California in 1950, where he worked on a ranch. In 1955, they moved to Eureka, California, where he worked in a saw mill. The family moved to Richfield, Idaho on March 5, 1961, where they farmed and had dairy cows. In 1989, the family moved to town, then to Bliss in 1999, where they worked as caretakers. LeeRoy retired in 2009 to Gooding.
One of Papa’s favorite activities in his younger years was to Jamboree with local cowboys and cowgirls. In his later years, he took great joy in participating in the lives of his great-grandchildren, and was blessed with three great-great-grandchildren. Papa gave each one their very own special nickname: “High-Pockets”, “Trucker”, and “Smiley”.
Nothing made Papa happier than being surrounded by the kids and watching them play.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Promise of Hope Hospice, John Fredrickson, and Papa’s neighbors Jaimie and Ryan Novis for all of their help and care.
LeeRoy is survived by his loving wife, Pauline; 1 son, Terry Parker; 1 granddaughter, Angie Clark; 3 great-grandchildren, Taraysa Parker, Tel Clark, and Sheena Bingham; and 3 great-great-grandchildren, Machaon Parker Savedra, Tucker Bingham, and Ava Clark.
