Twin Falls, Idaho - Kerry Michael (Mike) Thorpe, Twin Falls, passed away at home Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, following a brief struggle with lung cancer while enduring other physical disabilities.
Mike was born Oct. 10, 1949, in Twin Falls, Idaho, was a Cub Scout and attended Twin Falls High School. He played golf, clarinet in the pep band and occasionally hooky. He graduated in 1968. Mike worked for many years, mainly in the food and beverage industries, but was happiest working as the assistant manager at Candle Ridge Golf Course. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing, skiing, bike riding, beer and watering his mother’s flowers while relaxing in the sunshine with family and friends. Mike played Little League baseball, clarinet in the Twin Falls City Park Band and was a former member of the Elks and IOOB.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, George T. Thorpe; baby sister, Dena Annell Thorpe; grandparents, John G. (Jack) and Nell Thorpe, and W. Henry and Anna Gustafson; and aunts, uncles and cousins. Mike is survived by his mother, Shirley A. Thorpe; Uncle John D. and Aunt Jean Thorpe; Uncle Bill and Aunt Beverly Gustafson; Uncle Charles Gustafson; brother, Jon Thorpe; sister, Melissa Thorpe-McClellan; daughter, Felise Thorpe Moll (Jeff Moll); sons, Sean Thorpe and Jeremy (Jerry) Bostron (Kami Bostron); four grandchildren, Logan, Brett, Haylee and Tyer; and several cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at the Twin Falls Cemetery under the direction of Lance Cox and the staff at White Mortuary “Chapel by the Park.”
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or other cancer charities.
