Burley, Idaho - Reynaldo T. Nevarez, age 87, of Burley, passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at his home.
He was born Oct. 11, 1925, in Montell, Texas, the son of Hipolito Nevarez Sr. and Maria De Jesus Nevarez. He married Angelina Rodriguez on Oct. 20, 1944, in Campwood, Texas.He was a faithful member of the Primera Iglesia Bautista del Sur of Burley, where he served as the music director for 15 years and the adult Sunday school teacher. He then attended the First Baptist Church of Burley. He ran a sheep shearing business with his brother, Robert Nevarez Sr., for many years, was the owner of the El Rancherito Bonito, Charro Cafe and El Charro Bar and was also a harvest contractor. Reynaldo enjoyed the many camping trips he took with his family, fishing, carpentry, family barbecues and spending time with his many grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids.
Survivors include his children, Rene Nevarez and Rosa N. Ochoa, both of Burley, Ramiro Nevarez of Paul, Rita N. Hernandez, Rosalia (Benito) Molina and Ramona (Manuel) Elizondo, all of Burley, and Romana R. Nevarez of Jerome; 30 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; his siblings, Cruz Nevarez and Eva Falcon, both of Texas, Ricardo Nevarez of California, Ruth San Miguel of Texas, and Palin Nevarez and Raul Nevarez, both of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hipolito and Maria De Jesus Nevarez; his wife, Angelina Nevarez; two sons, Rodolfo R. Nevarez and Reynaldo R. Nevarez; one daughter, Rebecca N. Gonzales; and brothers, Robert Nevarez Sr., Hipolito Nevarez Jr., Jesus Nevarez and Paulo Nevarez.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 1, at the First Baptist Church, 2262 Hiland Ave. in Burley, with Pastor Lucio Gutierrez officiating. Burial will follow at the Gem Memorial Gardens in Burley. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St. in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Friday at the church.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Vince Ramirez Jr., Vanessa Ramirez and Ramona Elizondo for helping give the special care he needed to be in the comfort of his home. We would also like to thank his former caregivers, Elida and Rosa from Jewel’s Home Care Service and the nurses from home health, Tawny and Carrie.
