Twin Falls, Idaho - LeRoy ‘Whitey’ D. Jones, 82, of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away at his home Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013.
He was the only child born to Roy and Ruth Kimpton Jones in Kimberly, Idaho, on Dec. 18, 1930. He was raised and educated in Twin Falls. After high school, he served in the Korean War for the U.S. Air Force. He worked his entire life with cars. He was a mechanic in the early 1950s and worked for Theisen Motors in parts and as a service manager for 38 years. He retired from Theisen’s in 1993 and then worked for the College of Southern Idaho in the auto department for seven years. He finally retired to enjoy his yard, garden and especially his little pets. He often bragged that more than 40 dogs, cats and many other animals lived out their lives with his family over the years. He met his wife, Linda, in the fall of 1960, and they celebrated 50 years of marriage in August of 2012. They lived in the same house their entire married lives.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; three children, a son born in the ’50s; daughter, Shauna (William) Kinyon born in November of 1965; and Thad Jones born in June of 1967.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 1, at Sunset Memorial Park under the direction of Lance Cox and the staff at White Mortuary “Chapel by the Park.” Pastor Dale Metzger will officiate. We will miss you, Whitey, but now you are out of pain and resting easy.
