Richard P. Viner of Twin Falls passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Richard was born to Frank and Aleen Viner in Laramie, Wyo., on Dec. 29, 1932. He graduated from Laramie High School and attended the University of Wyoming on a football scholarship. He was in the ROTC at college and afterward served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he taught and coached sports in several Wyoming high schools. After several years, he quit teaching to pursue ranching. Richard loved camping, fishing, gardening and spending time with family.

Richard is survived by his wife, Georgia; his children, Carol (Larry) Finny, Jerry Viner, Joanne Tweet and Lynne Matkin; his stepchildren, Richard (Lori) McKinley, Julie Lucas and Matthew Biswell; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, James Viner.

Per Richard’s wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no service (Serenity Funeral Chapel in Twin Falls).
